The coastline, a transition zone between land and sea, is home to an exceptional wealth of biology and heritage, closely linked to the diversity of natural environments. Over the course of history, mankind has become aware of the consequences of indiscriminate exploitation of resources, realising the negative effects of management focused on the immediate satisfaction of its needs, often to the detriment of natural balances. Today, thanks to the technical and scientific expertise of bodies such as the Office national des forêts and the Conservatoire du Littoral, as well as the financial support of the public authorities, it is possible to reconcile the protection of biodiversity and landscapes with the needs of the public and the preservation of economic activities.
