The Lakes of the Médoc
Fancy a swim? Whether it's at the lakes, the ocean or the estuary, with its 124 km of fine sand, Médoc Atlantique is the beach destination par excellence. Between the bunkers, lost in the middle of the pines or surrounded by surfers, you are bound to find something to suit you. If you want to sunbathe in peace, keep your family busy or satisfy your thirst for sporting activities, your ultimate spot is just nearby.
Holidays by the lake
Can you already hear the water lapping?Here, we let ourselves live to the rhythm of the colours of the lake. In Lacanau, as on the largest natural freshwater lake in France at Carcans and Hourtin, there is a spectacle every day. Linked by the Canal des Etangs, these magical mirrors are a paradise for water sports activities. There is no shortage of choice, in Bombannes, Piqueyrot or Moutchic, sports and leisure activities are in the spotlight.
Wild and preserved, the lakes also form a remarkable space for a family swim, a walk along the banks or a fishing trip in the early morning.
In the morning, sheltered from the prevailing winds, or at the end of the day for the sunset, there are only good reasons to take advantage of these crystal-clear, lagoon-like waters.
Lake of Lacanau
With its 2,000 hectares, the lake offers a maximum of water sports activities and charming little beaches.
- Le Moutchic
This is the most animated spot with its numerous "beach huts" where you can try stand up paddle, canoe, windsurf, catamaran, wakeboard, kitesurf and even e-foil! The freedom of the great outdoors is yours on your pedalo or motor boat (with or without a licence) for your fishing trips or moments of total disconnection!
Supervised beaches in season - You will find 2 supervised beaches on the lake of Lacanau: at Moutchic and at La Grande Escoure.

Lake of Carcans-Hourtin
You arrive on the largest freshwater lake in France with its 6,000 hectares (nearly 1,100 football fields!).
This lake has 8 supervised beaches, the eastern part is a Natura 2000 zone and on the western side, you will discover the pretty village of Piqueyrot in Hourtin and the famous Bombannes domain, a real oasis of nature in Carcans Maubuisson.
- Carcans-Maubuisson
This pretty lakeside resort is ideal for families! The water is calm and turquoise blue, there are many activities for children and everything is accessible by bike. Sailing, canoeing, stand up paddling and pedal boats are all available. A well-known windsurfing spot, the initiated will enjoy an XXL size playground! - The Bombannes estate
A few pedal strokes from the centre of Carcans-Maubuisson, you arrive in the Bombannes domain, managed by the ONF. Here you can take advantage of the various leisure facilities: an interpretation trail, a climbing wall, cycling, water-skiing, sailing, stand up paddle, acquaparc, pedal boats, canoeing... there is something for all the family! You can even sleep on site.
- Hourtin Port
Nice marina where you can have lunch on the terrace with the boats as a spectacle! On the other side, supervised swimming with the possibility of practising classic nautical activities, fishing, boat trips and kitesurfing! 2 renowned kite zones are marked out on Hourtin: Hourtin Port and Lachanau.

You are here at the end of the world in a small village that has kept its soul. In addition to naps in the shade of the pines, swimming "alone in the world", you can practice sailing, stand up paddle, canoeing ... In addition, the beach is supervised in summer: ideal for the little ones.
