The sea festivals are a time of meditation and homage to people lost at sea. Mass in the open air, flowers laying in the ocean, these days are structuring moments and typical events in coastal resorts and towns. They usually take place around 15 August and are real moments of celebration and communion with the ocean.
What to do during the sea festivals?
Generally, a sea festival begins with an open-air mass in front of the ocean to reflect and think about those lost at sea. Fishermen, surfers and families are present for a time of meditation. Afterwards, bandas and music groups accompany the public to the ocean for the laying of wreaths in homage to those lost to the ocean. The coastal resorts offer numerous free events and dance parties before the famous fireworks!
