In 2019, the Médoc joined the family of Regional Natural Parks in France. The territory is thus nationally recognized for its remarkable natural and cultural heritage.
An exceptional biodiversity
Beaches, pine forests, vineyards and marshes are all immense landscapes teeming with exceptional biodiversity, unique know-how and cultural heritage that the Médoc Regional Natural Park is working to promote and preserve.
A committed territory
The mission of the Regional Natural Parks is to: protect the landscapes and the natural and cultural heritage; contribute to the planning of the territory, to the economic, social and cultural development and to the quality of life; ensure the reception, the education and the information of the public; carry out experimental and innovative actions.
Through the park, 51 communes grouped in 4 communities of communes have committed themselves for 15 years to lead the Médoc towards a sustainable development approach. The Médoc Regional Natural Park is managed by the elected officials of the territory within a mixed syndicate that associates the 4 communities of communes of the Médoc, the New Aquitaine Region, the Gironde Department and the gateway cities of the Bordeaux metropolis.
17 professionals make up the technical team and deploy daily actions to protect and enhance the natural and cultural heritage of the Médoc, while promoting the local economy and the well-being of its inhabitants.
