Historical representative of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Le Crock belongs since 1903 to the Cuvelier family, who also owns Château Léoville Poyferré (2nd Grand Cru Classé) in Saint-Julien. Our oenologist Isabelle Davin brings the same know-how to both properties. Located on the plateau of Marbuzet, the vineyard has 32 hectares on a soil of serious. Soil work is conducted all year long to allow the plant to take root deeply and reveal the complexity and richness of the terroir of Saint-Estèphe. The size of the vineyard is according to the Medocan tradition. The general conduct of the vineyard is based on the reasoned fight against pests in respect of the environment. The harvest is manual, the berries are collected in crates of 30 kg. The vinification is fragmented with fermentation in cement and stainless steel tanks, all thermo-regulated. The aging is traditional for 18 months in French oak barrels, of which 25% new barrels. The last renovations include the vat house in 1999 and the barrel cellar in 2010. Its wines have a complex tannic structure, a beautiful dark red color, an exceptional framework and a great aromatic finesse with a great aging potential.
