Terra Medoca – Sentier d’art environnemental de Lacanau

Terra Medoca: an environmental art trail at the heart of Lacanau's landscapes

Through the Terra Medoca environmental art trail, the town of Lacanau, in partnership with the association Aléa - Art Littoral et Environnement - invites you to discover the richness of its landscapes and ecosystems. This unique artistic trail unfolds over three distinct loops, exploring different natural environments and questioning our relationship with the environment.

Three natural environments to explore

The Terra Medoca trail takes you on a journey between the forest, the shores of the lake and the ocean dunes, three emblematic ecosystems of the Médoc Atlantique. Each loop is dotted with open-air works of art that challenge visitors about the interactions between man and his natural environment. This original route allows you to discover not only the local natural environments, but also sometimes little-known aspects of culture and history, while taking the time to contemplate these inspiring creations.

An evolving artistic trail

The Terra Medoca trail is regularly enriched with new works of art, adding diversity to each walk. Currently, eight major works await you, each offering a unique interpretation of environmental challenges and the links between man and nature. Here are just a few of the highlights:

- Plastic' Dauphin, a collaborative work by Alfred Knot, Nomads Surfing, and the town of Lacanau, questions plastic pollution of the oceans and its impact on marine fauna.
- Surf by nature by Jérémy Schiavo, which celebrates Lacanau-Bordeaux Métropole's bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games, highlights the symbiosis between surfing and nature, an emblematic sport on the Lacanau coast.
- Lacanau, never like anywhere else by Sophie Brice, captures the unique spirit and authenticity of this seaside resort.
- Le Cantabria - Pour ne pas oublier by Christine Germain pays tribute to the shipwrecked victims of a historic maritime tragedy, while encouraging reflection on the preservation of memories of the past.
- Micro-faune by Thierry Karm reveals the often invisible world of insects, essential players in ecosystems, through a fun and educational approach.
- Insolites du Médoc, by Delphine Trentacosta & Christian Coulon, explores local curiosities and the little stories that shape the region.
- Les Naufragés de la Méduse by Véronique Grenier, inspired by Géricault's famous painting, evokes the fragility of human beings in the face of the natural elements.
- Déferlante de déchets - Merci Hokusai by Vanessa Balci, a visual creation that transforms the rubbish collected on the beaches into an artistic wave inspired by Hokusai's print, to raise awareness of the need to protect the oceans.artistic and environmental discoveries.
